Included in the book - The Smethwick area from Prehistoric times, the Roman occupation, Saxon settlement, the Domesday Manor of Smethwick, Medieval history, the Civil War, and the industry of the area, the Soho Foundry, glass making and coal mining, the founding of an education system, the town's road system and the building of the railway" There is also a short biography of the author and a list of the books he wrote.
