Book in good condition, spine a little faded and spine ends and outer corner edges are slightly rubbed. A few of the pages have one or two spots of foxing at the bottom edge, a little foxing on bottom edge and free endpapers. Pages 121 and 123 have two small tears at front edge, and page 143 has top outer corner missing - 1"h x ½"w - (the piece is attached to page 142). Free endpapers lightly browned. Small bookseller's gold label inside front board. Previous owner's signature at the bottom of the title-page. Pages are bright and clean. A good tight copy. xvi, 285pp. With frontispiece, 12 full-page, 32 drawings in the text and 2 plans all by Edmund H. New. Includes: Saxon and Norman Periods - The Castle - The Walls, Bridge and Mills - Abbey of St. Werburgh - Chester Cathedral - Ancient and Modern Sees of Chester - and much more.
