Book in very good condition. The front bottom edge of two photograph pages before page 129 were not properly cut at the printers, so one page has a very tiny piece missing in width and about ½" high, this piece is then attached to the other page, rest of the book is in fine condition. Dustjacket in fine condition. 224pp, including Index of Aircraft names and Index of Persons. With 32 pages of black-and-white photographs. From d/j flap - "The story of the Boeing B-17 known as the 'Flying Fortress' first flew in 1935, and became more than a mere machine to the aircrews during World War II, seen by many as the greatest American aircraft of all time. The planes had mission tally symbols, fighter skills, and were emblazoned with nose art and individual names. Among those described are B-Baker, Memphis Belle, Tail Crazy , 5 Grand, and many more. Claims include longest serving, most damaged, shortest life, famous crewmen and much more have all been researched and authenticated, and also the drama and tragedy of the missions."
