Dustjacket in fair condition, small pieces missing at top spine edge, rubbed at bottom spine edge and outer corner edges, spine slightly tanned, light marks on back cover (see picture). xxiv, 244pp, including index. With coloured frontispiece and 6 full-page coloured plates, and 43 full-page pencil drawings, plus drawings in text ( all pencil drawings by Alfred Gill). York's nineteen hundred years of history. The author takes the reader along the ancient streets and walls of this world-renowned city, and hears at every turn some vivid narrative concerning national history, local event or northern idiosyncrasy.
