Dustjacket in very good condition, just slightly rubbed at top spine edge and outer corner edges. 192pp, including Chronology and Select Bibliography. With numerous sketches (some colour) by the author, including some which are double-page, 5 photographs and one map. Written on the battlefield at Dien Bien Phu in 1954 and beautifully illustrated with facsimiles of the diary pages by artist and military reporter Pham Thanh Tam. The harrowing detail of the 300 mile trek to the battlefield and the 55 days and nights of the battles that was fought in barren hilltops and in underground trenches during the Vietnam War. The diary includes the wide spread use of napalm in combat supplied to the French by the United States. Price:
