Dustjacket in very good condition, spine ends and top edge very slightly rubbed. 176pp. With frontispiece and 19 black-and-white photographs at back of book. The amusing and informative letters the author wrote to her boyfriend during their three and a half years separation in the Second World War. During that time Maureen Wells was in England, and had three unusual jobs: as a billeting officer for a London firm evacuated to a stately home in Surrey, as a Wren courier delivering messages for all parts of the United Kingdom, and as a Wren stoker in boats' crews at invasion bases in southern England during the build-up to D-Day. During this time her boyfriend an Australian was a pilot officer in the RAF serving in the Middle East. . Maureen married her boyfriend in 1944. (10"h x 7"w) (25.5cms x 18cms). Price:
