In November, 1956, the author flew to Vienna, arriving a few days after Soviet tanks and planes had reduced much of Budapest to rubble. He remained in Austria for six weeks, spending most of his time at various points along the Anglo-Hungarian border, helping refugees. He talked to hundreds of Hungarians and learnt what had led to and what happened, during the revolt. The story of the men of Csepel, the 40,000 steel workers, who fought and died in action. Previous owner's name and address in biro on the front endpaper. Hardcover. Book in good condition, very feint mark on front board.
