In 1965 Stella Rimington joined the Security Service (MI5) part-time, while she was in India accompanying her husband on a posting to the British High Commission. On returning to the U.K., she joined MI5 as a full-time employee, and in 1996 was the first woman to hold the post of Director General. During her time as DG she pursued her policy of greater openness for MI5. Dustjacket and book in very good condition.
