Hundreds were to give their lives, others were to be shot down and taken prisoner, but all helped to establish a tradition for New Zealanders in the Royal New Zealand Air Force and in the Royal Air Force. There are the stories of New Zealand's V.C.'s, her prominent bomber and fighter pilots, and men of the Coastal Command, such men as 'Cobber' Kain, J.A. Ward, A.C. Deere, Colin Gray, Andrew McKee and L.A. Trigg. The book also contains a record of the work of the five New Zealand squadrons based in Britain."
