Ombersley and Doverdale lie in the heart of the County of Worcestershire, their history is traced in minute detail from the Domesday Book to 1999. It includes village life, its economies, the development of farms and market gardens, shops, pubs and mills. Throughout the book runs the thread of the aristocratic Sandys family who have lived at Ombersley Court House for over 400 years. One of the family changed the whole infrastructure of Ombersley village early in the 19th Century and it is still virtually unaltered to day. There are buildings in the villages by three architects of national importance Frederick Preedy, Thomas Rickman and Francis Smith of Warwick and they are described in detail. A very fine book.
